A decision of a court that prevented the R & B singer Chris Brown approaching the ex-girlfriend Rihanna was suspended on Tuesday. The decision had been imposed after a violent row the couple had two years.
Judge of the Superior Court of Los Angeles, Patricia Schnegg, softened an order determining that Brown, 21, should stay at 45 meters Rihanna, or 10 feet away in the entertainment industry events.
Schnegg replaced the earlier order by a less strict law that prohibits disturbing or annoying Brown Rihanna, but allows him to talk to her.
Rihanna was not in court but his lawyer said the singer had no objections to the change.
Brown, 21, was present at the brief hearing on Tuesday. He had admitted assaulting Rihanna in 2009, the day before the Grammys in Los Angeles, and was sentenced to five years' probation and community service. Recently, he has recently completed a course of a year on domestic violence.
Brown was absent from the Grammy Awards ceremony last week in Los Angeles, despite having been nominated for three awards. Rihanna performed at the concert, but did not take any of the four awards they were nominated.
